Wii sports cheats, secrets & hints

Unlockable: Special Bowling Ball
You must achieve pro level on the bowling game.

Unlockable: Tennis court
At the warning screen after selecting characters, hold down 2.

Unlockable: Silver Boxing Gloves

After you've beaten Matt, the Grand Champion, you'll unlock the silver gloves. Hold 1 when the screen fades to black before a boxing match to don them.

Hint - Barrier Strike
For the 'Power Throws' training game in bowling, turn either left or right until there are four red bars pointing in the direction of your choice across the bowling line. This may not always work, especially with the big numbers of pins but this will almost always give you a strike. Feel free to experiment with different numbers of red bars across the bowling line since three and four almost always work for me.

Hint - 91 Strike
In the "Power Throws" training game for bowling, you might notice 2 red buttons at the end of the alley - 1 left and 1 right. When you get to the final bowl for 91 pins, you can bowl the ball along the top of the barrier on either side and hit this button.

Move your Mii all the way to the left or right, and turn the aim 2 or 3 clicks towards the barrier. Let go of the ball at the highest point possible, with just a bit of spin to keep the ball on the barrier.

If successful, you will hear a click, the screen will shake and all the pins will fall down.

Mii Parade
You can add more Miis in Parade and audiences. Use Wii Sports to do it:

1. Make about 10 Mii's.

2. Transfer those Mii's to your Wiimote.

3. Delete the Mii's that are transfered to the Wiimote out of the plaza.

4. Start up Wii Sports.

5 When given the option of which Mii to use during gameplay choose the option to get the Mii from the Wii Remote.

6. After viewing the Mii's on the Wiimote back out by using the B button.

7. Exit out of Wii Sports and back onto the Wii Menu.

Now check the Mii parade and all 10 of the Miis that were on the Wiimote are in the parade. Now if you dont want the Miis on the Wiimote just delete them off. These Miis will now show up in all Wii Sports games that have an audience.

Bowling Ball Color Change
You can select your bowling ball color before you bowl by using the directional pad. When you reach the screen warning, 'Make sure nothing is around you', hit the A button and hold the D-pad (until the alley UI appears) to choose your color:

UP = blue
LEFT = red
DOWN = green
RIGHT = yellow

Hint - Tennis Pro Tips
When playing tennis and building your skill level, you can quickly gain skill points by setting it up so that your Mii is both players on a single side. After orienting yourself to this type of gameplay (it takes some coordination), you will notice that your wins will earn you 40+ skill points each time - basically double what you would have gotten if you had played with the computer on your side.

To do this trick: When you select which type of game to play, "Single Game", "Best of 3", or "Best of 5", it shows you which players are at which locations on the court. Your Mii's default position is the left side server. On the same side, use the A Button and click on the figure standing at the net. It will change from the "?" shadow to your Mii (assuming you are playing alone). Then proceed to pick which duration of tennis you'd like to play.

Note that you should ensure that you win, otherwise you may be at risk to lose double the amount of skill points if you lose.

Hint - Baseball A.I. Exploit
The more skill points you accumulate, the harder it will be to beat the game A.I.

In order to get the pitcher for the A.I. to throw almost everything across the plate, you need to wear them out.

Take as many pitches as you can, working deep into each count. This trick doesn't guarentee a win, but I have yet to get negative points.

When you see the pitcher begin to sweat, an exlamation point will appear over the pitcher's head when a pitch is about to be thrown.

That means its coming right across the plate at 74 MPH. perfect home run ball if you hit the ball correctly.

Hint: Disable Map and Meters for Golf

Hold 2 while choosing your course to disable the map and wind meter.

Hint: Power Serve

To do a "power serve," press A and wait for the ball to reach the highest point in the air and then strike with the Wii Remote.

Amuse Crowd in Bowling

  • To make the crowd laugh in bowling, move to either of the gutters in your lane, turn into opposite lane, and bowl so the ball goes over the barier between the lanes. The ball will go into the gutter in the opposite lane and the crowd will laugh.

  • Scare Crowd in Bowling

  • To scare the crowd while bowling, start the regular motion for bowling and let go on the backswing. The ball will fly backwards and the crowd will scream and jump.

  • Never lose skill points

When you lose a match in Tennis, Baseball, or Boxing, immediately press Home before the game displays "You lose". Then, exit to the Wii menu. If timed correctly, when you reenter the game your skill level in that sport will not have decreased.

  • Quicker fitness tests

You have the option of taking a fitness test which includes stamina, power, and speed. Because of the default settings, you can only take the test once a day and must wait until the next day before retaking it. Use the following trick to take the test as many times as desired a day. Go into the Wii system settings and select the calendar option. Then, just move the date up by one day. The game will think a day has passed and allow you to retake the test.

  • Pitch underhand in Baseball

While pitching, press 2 before throwing. To return to a normal delivery, press 1.

  • Pitching combos in Baseball

While pitching, hold A for a screw ball, hold B for a curve ball, or hold A + B for a splitter.

  • Throw hard fastball in Baseball

While pitching, flick your wrist as if you were throwing a curveball and you will throw a hard fastball.

  • Better pitching in Baseball

If the person who is batting is on the right, hold A when you throw the ball and it will be harder for them to hit because it spins in the other direction. If the batter is on the left, hold B when you throw the ball. If you hold A + B it slows down just when it is about to get to them.

  • Easy homeruns in Baseball

While batting, as you hit the ball go in an upwards motion (up a few degrees when the ball is hit). You will be more likely to hit a homerun.

  • Homerun training session gold medal in Baseball

To get a gold medal, hit a homerun with all ten balls pitched to you.

  • Perfect throw in Baseball

While pitching, flick your wrist to get a perfect throw.

  • Extra pins in Bowling

When aiming for the pins in the first aiming thing, move all the way to the far right or left. Then, depending on which direction you aimed the first one, aim the second one as far as you can go in the same direction and your target will be in another lane.

  • Alternate ball color in Bowling

When starting a game of Bowling, hold the D-pad in one of the following directions to change the color of your bowling ball. Press Up for blue (default color), Left for pink/red, Down for green, or Right for gold.

  • Alternate ball design in Bowling

Achieve the Pro level to unlock a bowling ball with diamond designs.

  • Training Power Throws in Bowling

When on the "final lane" of Power Throws, move all the way to the right (or left, depending on which hand you use). Turn toward the wall two to four notches then release the ball on top of the wall. If done correctly, the bowling ball will travel down the top of the wall past the pins, and all 92 pins will fall down at once.

  • Straight shot in Bowling

As you bowl, hold B. Do not release B, and it will leave the Mii's hand in the air. Do not roll it immediately. Once that happens, you will have your hand in the air with the ball. Then, bowl it as usual after your hand is in the air. You will drop the ball and it will roll perfectly straight quickly.

  • Easy strikes in Bowling

While holding the Wii-mote up and behind (as if you are getting ready to release the ball), hold B for about three seconds. Release the ball when it reaches slightly past your leg and your Mii character is at the line. He or she will probably take about three steps. You should usually knock down most or all of the pins.

Go to the third dot to your right (or left depending on which way you bowl). Throw it hard to get a strike most of the time.

Line up your character so they are pointing at the space between the #1 and #2 pins (press D-pad Up). While swinging through, do not release B. Instead, hold it through the top of your swing then pull it back again and swing through again. Do this as fast as possible. Upon completion of your second swing, make sure to release the ball with little to no spin. You should get a strike most of the time.

Go to the left of the lane (gutter). Switch to the mode where you can turn from left and right. Point to around the middle of the lane, then roll the ball. You should get a strike. This may require several attempts.

  • Picking up spares gold medal in Training mode in Bowling

Knock down the pins with a single throw. Twist your wrist to curve the ball. If you knock down all the pins on seventeen lanes you will earn a gold medal.

  • Picking up spares platinum medal in Training mode in Bowling

Knock down the pins with a single throw. Twist your wrist to curve the ball. If you knock down all the pins on all twenty lanes you will earn a platinum medal.

  • 91 pin stage in Training mode in Bowling

At the 91 pin stage in Training mode, press A, then press the D-pad Right two times. Press A again and move all the way to the right until you reach the barrier. Swing the ball up onto the barrier. Make sure it does not fall off . If the ball goes off the barrier it will not work. If done correctly, you will hear a sound of a rock that is falling. All the pins will fall down. Note: This may require a few attempts.

  • Throw your ball into other people's lanes in Bowling

Move all the way to one side and then press A to switch your angle. Change your angle so that your ball will be aimed in the direction of someone else's lane. Then, release the ball near the top of your delivery to get it to "jump" over the gutter. The ball should end up in another lane.

  • Scare spectators in Bowling

When beginning your throw, release the ball while you are on the backswing to toss the ball backwards and scare the spectators.

  • Silver gloves in Boxing

  • Defeat the Grand Champion, Matt, in a boxing match to unlock the silver gloves. To use them, hold 1 when the screen becomes black before a boxing match.

  • Easy wins in Boxing

After your skill level gets into the 600's, your opponents will start to throw more punches at you. Keep dodging to the side. This will make you hard to hit. Whenever your opponent punches and it goes into slow motion, punch at their face one or two times. This will do more damage than normal hits and will help you defeat them faster.

  • No maps or meters on screen in Golf

When making a choice at the course selection screen, hold 2. The power meter, map, and wind speed indicator will no longer appear.

  • Reading the green in Golf

While on the green, press 1. You can see a detailed view of the green from where the level of the green changes.

  • Perfect shot on Beginner course hole 3 in Golf

At the third hole on the Beginner course, look on the map and you will notice a small island that is far off on the left side of the fairway. Hit the ball there and you will have a perfect shot at the green.

  • Alternate court color in Tennis

When starting a game of Tennis (or immediately after choosing "Start Over" on the "Position Select" screen), hold 2 and the tennis court will become blue.

  • Super serve in Tennis

When you are serving, just when the ball is at the highest point quickly flick your wrist. You will see white smoke from the ball and it will be difficult to hit. Note: This may require some practice.

When serving, hold your arm in the air above your head so that the Wii-mote is pointing upwards. Hold B and move your arm downwards. Do not move your arm too quickly or slowly. The ball should travel very fast and there will be a white glow coming from it. Note: This may require some practice.

  • Play on both sides with one Wii-mote in Tennis

Before the screen where the game randomly selects the opponents ends, select the black silhouette of the characters to control both sides. Note: The game will have a split screen.

  • Enter the crowd in Tennis

When your opponent hits the ball on either side that will be an out, flick your wrist. Your Mii will jump for it and end up where the fans are.

  • Hole in wall in Tennis

In Target Practice, intentionally miss the target to hit the brick wall. The section of the wall you hit will darken slightly. Keep hitting it until the bricks begin to break. After breaking enough bricks, a large hole will form. When your ball goes through the hole, your training will end.

  • Hit ball by themselves in Tennis

Instead of throwing the ball in the normal way by A or jiggling the Wii-mote, flip the Wii-mote in the air and catch it. This requires some practice. Your character will hit the ball all by his or herself. This does not always happen, but with practice you can do this every time you hit the ball. Note: This has no practical use in the game and is only for the purpose of showing off.
